Hello there lovely brides to be!

Hands down I have found this part of the wedding planning the hardest and most stressful! If you’re anything like me and scour through endless Asiana magazines to find the perfect make-up artist for your big day not to mention look at Instagram, Facebook etc etc, the list goes on.

Knowing how stressful and confusing this process can be I’ve put together the below list for my lovely brides to be, to make this part less stress free for you. Why? Because I know how important it is to look to look the best on your big day. I would also love to hear about your experiences too so shoot me an email or simply leave a comment.

Did you know that Desi Bride Dreams now offers wedding planning, bespoke partial planning packages as well as on the day coordination. If you want a brilliantly organised, magical and stress free wedding then Desi Bride Dreams Wedding Planning or coordination might be the answer.

Also on a side note, make up artists can sometimes take some time to get back to you especially in the midst of the wedding season so don’t let this put you off. I have had experiences with some that take 2-3 weeks to get back to me but then I decided that that particular make-up artist wouldn’t be the best one suited for me as I wouldn’t be able to trust them to turn up on the day. A slight exaggeration perhaps but you get my drift.

I would also highly recommend you start early with your make-up artist trials because some make-up artists can sometimes be booked up to 2 years in advance!

Before you contact any make-up artist you NEED to have booked your wedding day and venue, otherwise it’s a waste of your precious time because the make-up artist may already be booked for that date. Make sure when you do contact the make-up artist then tell them the below 3 things:

  1. Date of wedding
  2. Location of where you will be getting ready
  3. What time you need to be ready by

Right the next step is to decide which make up artists to contact to book your trial – whoop whoop! I would strongly encourage you to look at their work on both Facebook and Instagram to get an idea of what their style is because every make-up artists style will vary and you need to choose one which fits in with you, and the look you want to achieve on your big day. You’ll find that most make up artists update Facebook with their most recent work before their own website so be sure to keep an eye out on Facebook.

So here’s the fun part. After endless hours of researching I have listed below my top 5 in the industry and the moment. Doing the hard work so you don’t have to 🙂 Enjoy!

Ravita Pannu

I love love love Ravita Pannu! RP for short. This was probably my only trial when I didn’t end up looking like a drag queen. She listens to what look  you want and then creates it and she is booked for my wedding! She is Birmingham based and has the funkiest pop art induced studio you’ll ever see. Hats off to RP and her signature style not to mention her amazing customer service. This girl is super fast at responding and uber professional. RP has also recently opened a henna bar at Selfridges Birmingham so that gives you an idea of her creativity! Lots of love all round for RP and can’t wait for her to create my look for the big day!

Lubna Rafiq

Lubna Rafiq – well what can I say, I love her style! It’s very unique and clean with a dash of glamour and glitz all rolled into one. Her customer service is also next to none and she has over 12 years of experience in the make-up industry. She was recently the official runway hair and make-up partner at Asian Bride Live as well as being awarded the winner of Small Business of the Year by HSBC Asian Business Awards.

Make-up by Mus

Ahhhhhh Mus. If you love the OTT, glamorous infused Arabian look then MUS is the make-up artist for you. I am head over heels for her make-up style. Mus is Manchester based and cover’s mainly weddings in the north, so you northern brides are in for a treat!

Dil Matharu

One of the most sought after make-up artists in the UK and a brides dream come true. He has many years of experience and is a sheer perfectionist. He has a very unique style and is uber creative. Not to mention the customer service you get is second to none. He has a PA and she is so responsive and helpful, which helps when we are all stressing with our make-up artist! I tried to book Dil but he was booked for my wedding date 15 months before my wedding so get organised and book him early.

I didn’t have a trial with Ambreen  (as was booked for my date back in February – 15 months in advance – see what I’m talking about now) but I love the looks she creates for brides. She has a very specific clean signature bridal look which is gorgeous! Ambreen is also really good because if you have a trial booked with her then she wont go ahead and take another booking or book you in for a trial, which is a rarity with make-up artists. I highly recommend a make-up trial with her. Ambreen is London based.

Trial vs. No Trial

I think a lot of brides panic and think oh crap I’m not going to get a make-up artist on my wedding day so I’ll book without a trial, her work looks pretty good on her website. DO NOT DO THIS! This is your wedding day we’re talking about you shouldn’t  just be taking a chance. You need to be 110{96bf72e157f0de290a30ca90587c742cb5c33e86c5bd5fb645ca1571820aea17} confident that the make-up artist you have booked is the right one for you on your wedding day. For example, I went on a trial and loved her work on her website and Instagram and I had 90{96bf72e157f0de290a30ca90587c742cb5c33e86c5bd5fb645ca1571820aea17} decided she would be the one. Nope, I thought wrong. I ended up looking like a drag queen and she wasn’t right for me. Don’t get me wrong lots of brides book without a trial but from my personal experience, my advice would be don’t chance it. Book your trial and be 100{96bf72e157f0de290a30ca90587c742cb5c33e86c5bd5fb645ca1571820aea17} happy. If you’re a control freak like me (a lot of us Desi brides are) then book another trial once you have your outfit and jewellery. You want to look and feel the best on your wedding day and you need a make-up artist which is going to bring this out and make you feel a million dollars. Also the trials are also really fun!

Until next time…
