As a Asian wedding planner and Asian wedding blogger I get invited to lots of events and when this invite from the Connaught landed in my inbox I just couldn’t resist!

Over the summer, myself and 12 other wonderful bloggers were invited to enjoy an afternoon tea at the Connaught hotel in Mayfair. Now, it is fair to say that I was pretty excited to receive such an offer; the Connaught has an impeccable reputation for offering glamour and luxury, but my excitement only grew as the day went on!

One thing that surprised me was that despite the luxurious surroundings that we were all in, we all seemed to feel relaxed and were utterly taken with how much character and life the place seemed to exude. I was completely charmed by the grandeur of the hotel as we were taken around on a tour of it, overwhelmed at the attention to detail, from the artwork to the furnishings, everything perfectly complemented each other.

Our afternoon tea followed our tour as we were then led to the Carlos Room, which did not disappoint. As we walked into the room we all paused, utterly enchanted and mesmerized by the spread that had been laid out for us. Blooming in the middle of the table was a floral tree by McQueen’s, the white flowers giving the room a timeless, elegant, grand feeling. But what impressed me the most about the whole experience was not the extravagance of the décor, but the thoughtful, personal touches around the table that made all of our experiences so intimate and special. Each of us had a monogrammed napkin and a lavender pouch with the day’s date on it. There was beautiful red print china from Oscar de la Renta.  It was the small touches such as these that made me feel so welcome and made the experience a truly memorable one.

The very talented Rupa photography was also snapping away as we enjoyed our afternoon tea and she also treated us to some photography tips.

Now I hardly think I can write an entire blog post centered around an afternoon tea without briefly mentioning the food itself! I was left positively stuffed by the time the event had finished, having been spoilt for choice with delicious scones, tasty sandwiches and scrumptious cakes. I particularly enjoyed tucking into the small macarons and petit fours, me myself having a sweet tooth. As well as tea (obviously), the champagne kept flowing, making the food all the more delicious.

Wedding at the Connaught

The hospitality and attention to detail at the Connaught was impeccable. I was amazed by how beautifully the room we were in had been decorated and I could only imagine what it would be like to have a wedding here. The elegance and neutral colours of the place gives brides endless possibilities of how they might decorate it and don’t get me started on the menus they offer. I had a look at the wedding menus and was blown away by the extensive choice they have to offer. If the food at the afternoon tea was anything to go by, I’m sure that this would be nothing short of incredible – the canapes menu alone made my mouth water. With the venue hosting up to 200 guests and being in such close proximity to Farm Street Church (although you can hold the ceremony at the hotel if you wish), I believe that the Connaught makes for the perfect setting to hold you and your guests for you special day.
