Well hello again Desi Brides!

I hope you are all having a fabulous Monday.

So I have just received the images back from the very talented Sanjay Gohil from a wedding I helped plan and coordinate last year!

Shruti came to me ten months before her wedding as she was feeling stressed and overwhelmed by the sheer tasks of wedding planning. She had a very busy day job and had somewhat stalled in progressing her wedding plans.

When Shruti booked my Asian wedding planning and coordination service she still had to find a priest, videography,  and she also wanted a bouncy castle. Her main concern was that because she was having 700 guests attend her Hindu wedding ceremony. She really wanted this to be a silent ceremony with minimal noise disruptions during the actual wedding ceremony and of course she wanted a team that could manage her wedding ceremony smoothly from start to finish.

When she booked me I immediately got to work. As Shruti and Ronak were getting married on a August bank holiday weekend (one of the businest dates in the Asian wedding calaendar) I knew that perhaps sourcing and booking a Maharaj was going to be difficult. However here at Desi Bride Dreams I believe that anything is possible! Shruti had a strict criteria and she wanted a Maharaj that could conduct a silent ceremony as well as really control the guests so that the wedding ceremony would be disruption free. I knew just the person and within weeks of booking me a great Maharaj was booked which fitted Shruti’s criteria perfectly.

I then researched and booked all of her remaning wedding suppliers in line with her budget and vision. By February we had most of the planning completed and she still had six months till the wedding – Shruti was feeling a lot less stressed and of course calmer at this point!

But our job didn’t end there. As Shruti had booked us for wedding day coordination as well, we knew that on the day itself we would have to manage 700 guests. We arrived bright and early (7am to be precise) at the venue to oversee the set up. My team and I (three of us on this day) ensured that everything was correctly set up in terms of the tables for the breakfast as well as the room for the ceremony. We always arrive early to the venue as wedding suppliers inevitably have questions about the set up no matter how organised we have been! Before the guests arrived, we carried out numerous tasks to ensure the ceremony was perfect. These included making sure that the programmes, nut snacks and water bottles were properly laid out for the guest’s arrivals. I find so often in weddings that these things can be overlooked and forgotten. Brides often forget to assign this role to someone and that is where we, the Asian wedding coordinators, can come in. We leave nothing to chance – if it’s not being done, we do it ourselves!

The biggest challenge of the day however was maintaining a silent wedding. This was very important to the bride and groom and so naturally was very important to us too.  A problem I often find with Hindu weddings are the disruptions from guests during the ceremony itself. With such large numbers as there were, general chit chat or people moving about can be a major disruption.

But not at this wedding. The three of us ushered people in in an orderly fashion, keeping noise to an absolute minimum during the ceremony. We ensured that everyone kept quiet, allowing the ceremony to flow, making it all the more special for Shruti and Ronak. Everyone there would agree that it was a beautiful ceremony and a pleasure to witness.

Throughout the day, my team and I kept on top of the fast paced order of the day. Of course, things often occur on the day that can cause delays. But for this wedding, quite the opposite occurred. Not only were the breakfast served on time and to an impeccable standard, but with such a fantastic  Maharaj as theirs, the ceremony finished ahead of schedule, so we were able to speak with suppliers, pushing the whole day slightly ahead.

It was little actions such as these that made for such a great day, everything went according to plan and Shruti and Ronak were able to completely and utterly immerse themselves in one another and their guests, knowing that their wedding was left in our capable hands.

Thank you to Shruti to hiring me plan and coordinate her big day – it was a absolute pleasure!shrutiRonak-29
